Waka Ama - Day 1 Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! You might be wondering why I am back to day 1, I am back to day 1 because I haven't done this activity yet. So here it is! In the 1800's people used Wakas to race in for sports, until now they still do it! Must be very trendy! They have to row really fast to win, it takes a lot of effort! Here is a video of the race they had.

Wow! Isn't it fascinating to see them paddle that fast? If I were to do that job I would be tired the second I start paddling. I would not like to do this because this is very exhausting hard work! And as well you might even fall of the Waka if you are moving side to side too much! I have also sailed in a Waka myself, above shallow water and it was super hard to even turn!

From  making this blog post I learnt how to add the video so that you can just click on it and you don't need the link. It was hard to watch the video because it was restricted on my Chromebook, so I needed to use another device to watch the video. It was easy to find the reasons why I don't want to be doing that job or competition, because I am not a sporty kid.

If you have liked this blog post please be sure to leave a comment down below! Would you want to be in this competition? Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

  1. Kia ora Amie,

Wow, I haven't come across a student who has paddled in a waka before. That must have been an awesome experience. Did you have the chance to do this with your school? I think I would really enjoy waka ama as I love competing in team events. The feeling of sharing a win with a group of friends is an awesome experience. Is there team event that you like competing in that might not involve sports?

    Have fun blogging,
    Megan :)

    1. Bonjour Megan, Yes it was a awesome experience and I also tipped over. I didn't do this with my school I did it with my sister and my friends. There is a team event but it has already passed, it was poetry competition.
