The Early Years - Day 1 week 2

Hello Blogging world! Today is Christmas day, but we still have fun and entertaining activities we need to do like the Summer Learning Journey. Starting week 2 we had to go back to the early years which is (1800s-1919) and search up a picture of a Cathedral and some information about it, if you want to learn what a Cathedral is click here Here is some deeper information about today's activity. We had to search up a photo of a Cathedral, where it is located, the name of the Cathedral, when it was built and how long did it take to build it? Here is a photo of a Cathedral.

I chose St. Patrick's Cathedral because this is the only church that I can quickly find when it was built. This is located at 43 Wyndham St. It was built at 1841 to 2007. It finished the same year when I was born that's a coincidence.

It was hard to find when it was built and how long it took. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

  1. Hey Amie,

What a beautiful cathedral you have decided to research, and it is found right here in Auckland. Wow, it took 167 years to build, that is a fantastic fact you have found. That means that not one of the original builders were alive to see the cathedral in it's finished state. Have you visited a cathedral before?

This reminds me of the amazing opportunity I had to visit a number of incredible cathedrals in England. One that always stood out the most was St Georges Chapel which was built in the 1300's. What kind of building tools do you think the builders had in the 1300's? I doubt they had elcetric tools back then.

    Have an awesome day Amie,
    Megan :)

    1. Namaste Megan, I think I have visited a Cathedral but it was a church. Have you been to England? I would love to go there! I think they had hammers but I am not sure. Thank you for commenting!

    2. Namaste Amie,

Oh that is awesome you hav visited a cathedral too. Was it as beautiful as the picture you shared? Yes, the cathedrals I have visited have all been churches too. I was born in England but moved to New Zealand when I was a child. I have been blessed in that I can visit my family in England quite often. When I am over there I sometimes get the chance to explore the old buildings and castles. Have you had the opportunity to travel outside New Zealand? If not, where would you like to visit first?

I hope you have nicer weather than we have here in Waihi Beach.

      Megan :)
