Playing Games - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! For activity 2 we had to choose 1 out of 4 games that we like best, these games were from the olden days but they have carried on for generations and still exists! Here are links to the 4 games, Poi RakauKi O Rahi, Koruru Taonga and Poi Toa. Have you chosen your favourite game? Well here is mine!

Do you like this game well maybe you can play this with one of your friends!
(i) The name of this game is called "Poi Rakau."
(ii)The goal and purpose of this game is to try and stay in the game as long as you can, someone will say which direction to go to, and you have to go that direction you have to let go of your stick and try get the other players stick without it falling over.
(iii)The rules are you cannot dig your stick into the ground so it doesn't fall or else you are out! The second rule is that there has to be a person in the middle shouting out where to go for your next rotation.

From making this blog post I learnt how what types of games they used to play in the old days. It was hard to watch the video because it was restricted so I had to use another device. It was easy to choose the game because this was the least confusing game. All of these games sounded really fun have you played any of these? Please feel free to leave a comment down below! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

  1. Talofa Amie,

I love the way you’ve organised your post into paragraphs and put bullet points where needed, it made it very easy to read. Maybe in future you could add in a video of you and friends or family playing Poi Rakau. Glad you were able to access the video it does make understanding the game much easier.

I myself have never played Poi Rakau, but after discovering it I would love to try it on my next beach trip with family and friends (although I have no idea where I’ll get that many rakau!). I love it because it encourages teamwork while being fun and exciting at the same time. Maybe you could suggest this game at the beginning of term 1 this year, I bet it would be a great team building exercise for your new class.

    Keep up the great work!

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    Cia.

    1. Ni Hao Cia, I might not be able to add a video but maybe be able to play it with only a few people. It was better because there was a video to show you how to play. That is a great suggestion maybe we could in my new class! Thank you for commenting great suggestions!
