#EarnTheFern - Bonus Activity

Hello Blogging world! After the Treaty of the Waitangi was signed, New Zealand became a British colony, There were also much more countries that were in the British colony too. They were called the "Commonwealth." There was this man that organised a sports competition for the Commonwealth group. It is called the Commonwealth Games.

The first event started in Hamilton, Canada 1930's. The next Commonwealth Game is in 2018 Gold Coast in Australia. Many athletes are competing to have a chance to represent New Zealand at the games to Earn The Fern. One of New Zealand's gold medal winner is Bill Kini. He is very talented and is great at boxing. Here are the 4 questions we had to ask Bill Kini.

  1.  How much medals have you ever won?
  2.  How much talents can you do?
  3.  When did you start loving sports?
  4.  How did you have enough time to train for 2 sports at once?
Those were the questions that I would ask him. What would you ask him? I hope you have enjoyed this blog post! Please feel free to leave a comment down below! Bye! Bye! blogging world!

  1. Hey Amie,

Thank you for providing a little bit of background information about the commonwealth games as well as an introduction about Bill Kini, it is appreciated. I really like the question ‘how many talents do you have?’ and I’m actually curious about what his answer would be since he was such a talented sportsman. Had you thought about who might’ve inspired him to start boxing?

If I could ask Bill Kini a question, I’d ask ‘Who was the first person you thought of when you received your gold medal at the Commonwealth Games? I wonder if it was a family member..
Who do you think it was?

Wonderful work as always, ka pai Amie!

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    Cia.

    1. Hey Cia, hmm I actually haven't thought about that but that is a great question! It was probably his parents that paid for the lessons or someone who encouraged him to start boxing. Thank you!
