What's in a Name? - Activity 2

Hello Blogging world! In the 1950s lots of families had lots of babies. The population of people grew bye 400,000 people which is a lot of people. This time of the year people called it the baby boom! Popular names in the 1950s were,

GIRLS BOYS
Christine John
Susan David
Margaret Peter
Judith Michael
Jennifer Robert

In my Primary School these name were not that popular but here, are 3 girls and 3 boys most popular names at my old school.

GIRLS BOYS
Lily Jacob
Amy Jerry
Louise Joshua

Wow you can tell that there is a lot of popular boy names beginning with J. It was hard to think about the girls names because not much girls had the same except for the one who use to be here and Lily because lots of people have that as their names. I hope you have enjoyed this blog post please feel free to leave a comment about my work! Bye! bye! Blogging world!

  2. Hey Amie,

Thank you for sharing all those names you’ve noticed are popular in your school. I like the way you thought carefully about the girls knowing that there weren’t as many common names for the girls as there are for boys at your school. A suggestion for next time, maybe you could use a darker colour for your font because yellow doesn’t stand out as much when on a white background therefore it’s harder to read.

After reading your post I realised that I know 6 people named Joshua! A common name for girls when I was in school was Julie and also Vai. It makes me wonder whether there is a name out there that nobody else has.. Is there a name you know that no one else has?

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    Cia.
