You have to Pay to Play - Bonus activity

Hello Blogging world! It all changed in 1990 when people had to start paying for University. Students had to pay thousands of dollars to go to school. Th new labour government has promised to give up 3 years of free post secondary education. (After high school) For all New Zealanders in 2020! which is great! For this activity we had to think if paying for University is good or not.

This was a hard decision but I think it is not a good idea because paying a thousand dollars each year is a lot of money, and every student should be able to learn and study because some people might not be able to afford a thousand dollars every year.

I hope you have enjoyed my reasons. From making this blog post I learnt that our new Prime Minister promised that going to University would be free post in 2020. Please feel free to leave a comment! Bye! Bye! Blogging world!

  1. Kia orana Amie,

I am impressed with your ability to empathise with others, you are right that some people may not be able to afford to study after high school. Also thank you for writing down your afterthoughts about this issue, it is always a joy to read about what else you’ve learned. Perhaps next time you could talk about the pros and cons of university becoming fee free, I’m certain there’d be a lot interest in the comment section!

As a a past university student myself I wish my tertiary study was free, it’s a little worrying to think about paying back such a big student loan. Normally university students borrow money from the government to pay their fees, this is a student loan. I like the idea of tertiary study being fee free and I’m really happy for all the future university students who will benefit from it. Hopefully it will still be in effect when you are old enough to decide whether you will go to university!

    Toe feiloa’i fo’i,

    Cia.

    1. Kia orana Cia, I'm not really sure what pros and cons it so I will leave it, if I find out what it means. I hope that it will still be free too! Thank you for leaving a comment!
